1. Sign in to YouTube
If you have a Google account, use your credentials to sign in to YouTube. If you don't have a Google account, you'll need to create one.
2. Go to YouTube Studio
Once signed in, click on your profile picture in the top-right corner of the YouTube homepage.
Click on "Your channel" in the dropdown menu.
You'll be redirected to YouTube Studio.
3. Create a Channel
If you don't have a channel, YouTube will prompt you to create one.
Enter your desired channel name and choose a category for your channel.
4. Customize Your Channel
Upload a profile picture (channel icon) and a banner (channel art) to personalize your channel.
Add a channel description to let viewers know what your channel is about.
5. Add Links and Information
In the YouTube Studio, go to the "Customization" tab.
Add links to your social media accounts and website, if applicable.
Fill in the "About" section with more details about your channel.
6. Upload Your First Video
Click on the "Create" button (camera icon) in the top-right corner of the screen.
Select "Upload video."
Choose the video file from your computer.
Add a title, description, and tags for your video.
7. Set Video Privacy Settings
Choose whether you want your video to be public, private, or unlisted.
Public videos can be seen by anyone, private videos are only visible to you, and unlisted videos are accessible to those with the video link.
8. Publish Your Video
Click the "Publish" button to make your video live on your channel.
9. Explore Additional Features
Familiarize yourself with YouTube features like playlists, end screens, and annotations to enhance your videos.
10. Engage with Your Audience
Respond to comments on your videos and engage with your audience through community posts or live streams.
11. Optimize Your Channel
Regularly upload content to keep your channel active.
Use compelling thumbnails, titles, and descriptions to attract viewers.
12. Monetization (Optional)
If you're interested in monetizing your videos, review YouTube's Partner Program requirements and apply for monetization when you meet them.
Create an account on YouTube
To sign in to YouTube, you'll need to create a Google Account. A Google Account lets you use many YouTube features including Like, Subscribe, Watch Later, and Watch History.
Computer
Go to YouTube.
In the top right, click Sign in.
Click Create Account.

Android or iPhone & iPad
Open the YouTube app.
In the top right, tap the profile picture .
Tap Sign in.
Tap Add account Zoom in .
If you're already signed in with a Google Account, but want to make a new one:
Open the YouTube app.
In the top right, tap your profile picture .

Create a YouTube channel
You can watch and like videos and subscribe to channels with a Google Account. But without a YouTube channel, you have no public presence on YouTube. Even if you have a Google Account, you need to create a YouTube channel to upload videos, comment, or make playlists.
You can create your channel on either the YouTube website or the YouTube mobile site.
Create a personal channel
Follow these instructions to create a channel that only you can manage using your Google Account.
Sign in to YouTube on a computer or the mobile site.
Click your profile picture and then Create a channel.
You’ll be asked to create a channel.
Check the details (with your Google Account name and photo) and confirm to create your channel.
Verify your YouTube account
To verify your channel, you’ll be asked to enter a phone number. We’ll send a verification code by text or voice call to that phone number.
Once you've verified your account, you can:
Upload videos longer than 15 minutes
Add custom thumbnails
Live stream
Appeal Content ID claims
Why does YouTube ask for my phone number?
We take spam and abuse seriously. Using phone numbers to verify identity is one way to protect our community and combat abuse.
We use the phone number to send you a verification code. We also make sure the phone number is linked to no more than 2 channels per year.
I haven't received the verification code
- You should get the code immediately. If you haven't, you can request a new code. Make sure you're not running into one of these common problems:
- Some countries/regions and carriers don't support text messages from Google: Most mobile carriers support text messages from Google. If your carrier doesn't support text messages from Google, you can try the voice call option, or use a different phone number.
- There are too many accounts with the same phone number: If you get the error message, "This phone number has already created the maximum number of accounts," you'll have to use a different number. To help prevent abuse, a phone number can only be associated with 2 accounts per year.
- Text message delivery can be delayed: Delays can happen in densely populated areas, or if your carrier's infrastructure isn't well maintained. If you've waited more than a few minutes and still haven't received our text message, try the voice call option.
