General Certificate of Education - Ordinary Level (G.C.E. - O/L) is a Sri Lankan government’s education system that applies by the Examination Department in Sri Lanka. It is one of the key examinations to 16 years old students who study in government schools. Literally, it is grade 11, and entry examination to General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) or G.C.E. (A/L). The G.C.E. O/L examination is held annually in December.
G.C.E. (O/L) subjects in Sri Lanka
G.C.E. (O/L) syllabuses have six main subjects with three optional subjects. All 6 main G.C.E. (O/L) syllabuses / subjects are as follows as per its categorizations:

The above six main subjects are compulsory. However, students can select their religion and primary language.

Once the paper connection completed, result will be announced and posted to each school and private candidates. The G.C. E (O/L) grades are given below.

O/L Subjects
Compulsory Subjects
Common subjects such as Mathematics and the language of instruction (e.g., Sinhala, Tamil, or English) are usually compulsory for all students
Additional Subjects
Students can choose additional subjects based on their interests and career aspirations. These may include Science, Arts, Commerce, and Vocational subjects.
Examination Structure
The O/L examination consists of a series of subject-specific papers, and students are assessed on their performance in each subject.
Practical Examinations
Certain subjects, especially in the Science stream, may include practical examinations to assess practical skills and understanding.
O/L Grading System (Sri Lanka)
Grading Scale
The grading system typically ranges from A to F, with A being the highest grade and F indicating a fail.
Grades and Grade Points
The specific grading scale may vary, but generally, it includes grades such as A, B, C, S, and F. Each grade corresponds to a specific grade point.
Passing Grade
A grade of S (Satisfactory) or above is considered a passing grade, while F (Fail) indicates that the student did not meet the minimum requirements.
Aggregate Score
The overall performance of a student is often calculated based on an aggregate score, which takes into account the grades obtained in individual subjects.
Certificates
Students who successfully pass the O/L examination receive a General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) or an equivalent certificate.
Subject Options
The grading system may vary slightly for different subjects, and students are often required to achieve a minimum grade in core subjects for overall success.
